Admission

At ASEM, doctoral programs are offered both on a budget-funded basis (based on the grant awarded) and on a fee-paying basis; in full-time (3 years) and part-time (4 years) formats.

Eligible applicants for the admission competition are holders of a master’s degree or higher education diploma (issued under pre-Bologna programs) with a cumulative GPA of no less than 8.0. Candidates may apply to only one doctoral program.

Doctoral programs offered: Economic theory and policy; World economy and international relations; Economics and management; Marketing and logistics; Finance; Accounting and auditing; Economic statistics; Economic and social geography.

Application file: To apply for the doctoral program, the candidate must submit the application file as follows:

  1. Application for admission to the doctoral studies admission competition (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  2. Doctoral studies application form, duly completed and signed (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  3. Copies of academic qualifications (Bachelor’s degree diploma and Master’s degree diploma), accompanied by the corresponding Diploma Supplements;
  4. Research proposal related to the proposed doctoral research topic, consisting of 7–10 pages;
  5. At least one letter of recommendation from a specialist holding a doctoral degree (or equivalent scientific qualification) in the relevant field, or an extract from the minutes of the Master’s School Council meeting;
  6. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Europass format;
  7. Evidence of previous scientific achievements (published articles, conference papers, scientific communications, etc.), which form part of the candidate’s evaluation;
  8. Copy of the identity document (for foreign applicants – a copy of the passport);
  9. Marriage certificate or other supporting document confirming a change of surname, where applicable;
  10. Doctoral candidate questionnaire (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  11. Declaration on own responsibility confirming that the applicant has not previously received state-funded financial support for doctoral studies (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  12. Declaration of consent for the processing of personal data (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  13. Declaration on own responsibility regarding the authenticity of the submitted documents and the conformity of the digital/scanned copies with the original documents (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  14. Declaration on own responsibility regarding the applicant’s commitment, if admitted to a full-time, state-funded doctoral place, to be employed within the organizational structures of ASEM (to be completed at the Doctoral School);
  15. Proof of payment of the doctoral admission application fee;
  16. Supporting documents certifying disabilities or special educational needs, where applicable;
  17. Three passport-size photographs (3 × 4 cm).

Once the application period has ended, the scientific specialty and form of study cannot be changed!

The recognition of academic credentials obtained in countries other than the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and EU member states falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

Admission and doctoral study requirements for foreign nationals and stateless persons are the same as for citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

Admission Exams: Admission to the doctoral program is based on two exams:

  1. English language proficiency.
  2. Scientific paper on a topic related to the selected doctoral program.

Doctoral Admission Fee:

  • for citizens of the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine – 600 MDL;
  • for citizens of other countries – EUR 100.

Annual Tuition Fee for Self-Funded (Non-State-Funded) Doctoral Students:

  • for citizens of the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine – 19,500 MDL per academic year;
  • for citizens of other countries – the tuition fee is double.
