523.02. ECONOMIC STATISTICS

Program objective

This program develops advanced skills in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and forecasting of economic data through the application of sophisticated statistical and econometric research techniques, which enable the generation of generalized macroeconomic insights. At the same time, the program provides doctoral students with the general and specific research skills necessary for the preparation of their doctoral dissertations.

Courses attended

Doctoral students attend 4 required courses, which build their research skills, and 4 elective courses, which develop their cross-disciplinary, general, and professional research skills:

  • Applied economic theories.
  • Methodology and epistemology of economic science.
  • Advanced methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Specialized course.
  • Academic writing and scientific communication / Scientific authorship and intellectual property law.
  • Digital tools for scientific research / Career management.
  • Financial management of scientific research / Scientific information management
  • Management of research and development projects / Time management.

  • application of descriptive and inferential statistical methods and techniques in investigating economic phenomena and processes;
  • use of the survey method to investigate mass phenomena based on various types of sampling;
  • selection and application of statistical tests necessary to confirm scientific hypotheses;
  • working with socio-economic statistical indicators;
  • static and dynamic econometric models for describing various activities and situations;
  • developing forecasts of key activity indicators at the micro, meso, and macroeconomic levels;
  • using computational technologies for processing and analyzing large datasets, etc.
